Shari E. Wolf Boraz
I attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and earned a bachelor of fine arts degree, majoring in textile design. In 1973 I entered a pair of extensively embroidered denim jeans into the Levi’s Denim Art Contest and was one of 50 winners earning an honorable mention award. As part of that competition the submitted jeans were exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and Europe.
I embroider abstract images that reflect unconscious memories and feelings from life experiences. The graceful line of a horizon of hills, the trail of a bird’s flight, the rivulet of water when snow melts, and the gradation of the color of clouds are a few of my inspirational sources. My goal is to lure the viewer to the art with color, vibration and movement. This provides a path to immerse oneself into the piece and to respond in whatever way lies within.
